New Catholic Primary School Consultation

A formal Consultation Document(Synopsis) has been issued by ERC, setting out their proposals. The Consultation Period is open until 21st November 2014. This Consultation Document can be found here. There is a Public Meeting at Mearns Primary School at 7pm on Wednesday 29th October. St Cadoc’s Primary School Parent Council is preparing a formal response to the proposals set out in this Consultation Document and seeks the views of all parents of St Cadoc’s pupils, and of the wider St Cadoc’s church community on the proposals. A Draft Response has been prepared. If you have any comments or queries on the draft Parent Council response, please email these to StCadocsPC@gmail.com.

The Parish

St Cadoc's Catholic Church, Newton Mearns, is located in a leafy suburb on the South Side of the City of Glasgow. It is, however, within the Diocese of Paisley, whose patron saint is St Mirin. The parish is a thriving community with well-attended Masses made up of many young families and more senior parishioners. The Sunday Masses are particularly joyful with lots of young people and children. Our church is home to people from many different nationalities. We aim to reflect this diversity by having the flags of the nations represented by our parishioners and by words of welcome in their own language. We know that we have had visitors to our site from eighty-four countries and we would happily recognise those countries if they are not already represented. So, please feel free to contact us and give us words of welcome in your language. To you all, our warmest welcome is extended whether from a nearby parish, another part of the country, or from across the world. We hope you find a welcome place of quiet and that you will enjoy your visit to our parish and to our website.

The Wisdom of St Cadoc

Without knowledge, no God.
No man is the son of knowledge if he is not also the son of poetry.
The best of attitudes is humility;
the best of occupations, work;
the best of sentiments, pity;
the best of cares, justice;
the best of pains, that which a man takes to make peace;
the best of sorrows, sorrow for sin;
the best of characters, generosity.
Truth is the elder daughter of God.
No man loves poetry without
loving the light,
nor light without truth,
nor truth without loving God.
The best of patriots is the man who tills the soil.
No man is pious who is not cheerful.
There is no king like him who is king of himself.
Loving is Heaven; hatred is Hell.
Conscience is the eye of God in the soul of man
